32-pounder Chambered Cannon of 42 Hundredweight
32-pounders of 42 hundredweight served on the largest sloops of the war. From 1842 into 1849, all six ion gun founders: Alger, Bellona, Columbia, Fort Pitt, Tredegar and West Point, produced 414, of which 11 have been found. Steen Cannon & Ordnance Works had the opportunity to make two of these big boys or Shiloh National Military Park. We custom built two naval truck carriages out of ductile iron and created a wood effect on the surface of the carriage. Because the Tennessee floods in the area these cannons were originally used during the battle, ductile iron was the best choice for the carriages.
